August 5-Sent by God

Journey through 1 Samuel

1 Samuel 14.15-23 “the LORD rescued Israel that day”

Focus Verse-1 Samuel 14.15

Then panic struck the whole army—those in the camp and field, and those in the outposts and raiding parties—and the ground shook. It was a panic sent by God.

Insight-This all started when one man, Jonathan, was willing to move forward and trust God for victory.  So then God steps up and starts to do some of the fighting.  He shakes the earth and the hearts of the Philistines causing them to not only scatter, but to start fighting each other.  Saul sees this opportunity and now has the courage to follow God into the battle.  It’s interesting how Jonathan follows God, before God moves in obvious ways and Saul has to have it right in front of him before he sees it.

Active Response-I want to be the kind of person who trusts God enough to move forward without having to see the blatant signs.  I want to be close enough to God’s heart that I have the confidence to move forward in any and every situation, knowing that He will lead me in my next step and knowing that He is fully capable of fighting the battles ahead.

Almighty God, You are the One who reigns supreme.  Lead me and guide me into Your confidence and Your strength.  The battle is Yours.  Help me to fight the real battles of life and to trust You for the outcome.  Amen.
