a life that matters:day two
[Read & meditate on Matthew 19.16-24. How does Jesus say we can have a life that matters?]
You get the sense that Jesus understood that the rich young man was putting his confidence in and trying to find his significance in the kingdom that he had built for himself. It’s as if he just wanted to add Jesus kingdom to his own. Unfortunately, they don’t mix very well. In order to experience a life of eternal significance, I need to embrace Jesus and his way, first and foremost. I need to put my confidence and significance in him, not myself, my possessions, etc. My wealth is worthless compared to the value of his kingdom, in which love is the currency.
This is something that really hits home…
I have been thinking about this a lot lately. God gives us everything we have, and we are then called to be good stewards of what he gives us.
At the same time we are told to not let outr posessions take the place of God in our lives.
I am torn so many times because I se need everywhere i turn, but how do you know if you are supposed to give or not. I mean I have such a heart for the widdows and orphans, like i see homeless and detitute people everywhere I turn, but there is always that little thing inside me that says, what if they dont use the resources for good. I mean I trust that once I give it is in God’s hads but where do you draw the line?
