Jesus wept:day one

[Read & meditate on John 11.1-16. How do you feel about Jesus’ response to his friend’s illness and death?]

I have to admit, his response seems rather callous. I mean, if it were me, I would hope that I would respond quickly. I guess it is just a good reminder that whether things turn out the way that we think they should or not, God is still in control. He has a plan, and like it or not, for my benefit, that plan will include times of pain, confusion, etc. It seems like these are the times where we develop real trust in God–this is where the rubber hits the road.
Think about it, Jesus actually allowed his friend to die and his family and friends to suffer so that God would be glorified. It almost doesn’t seem fair, or kind. But he’s right, he’s always right.

How do I usually respond to the pain I experience?
What are the questions that I ask?
